Bookmarks is the bane of my life - not!

I love Bookmarks Magazine. Really I do. But I almost dread its arrival in my mailbox, because it always means adding more books to my growing - and growing - To Be Read pile (My Library Thing, on the sidebar, is actually by TBR list). I now have 77 books I want to read. And although I'm reading books at a faster rate than ever before, I can't seem to read more in a month than I add with each month's Bookmarks Magazine. Therefore, I'll never catch up. I'll be drowning in books forever. The End.

I let my subscription lapse and have been thinking of renewing. It makes me nervous however because I went to renew my Pages Magazine and found they've gone bankrupt! Now I'm worried Bookmarks could be doomed too. What do you think? Should I just go ahead and do it?

I love Bookmarks, too. But, like suey I worry that they won't be in business for much longer. You are right though, they make tons of books look too tempting. 77 books you want to read? Is that all? ;)

But what a way to go!

Bookmarks addressed this in their latest issue...apparently Pages was owned by AMS, the company that placed books at Costco. AMS had trouble with the SEC, along with a lot of bad management problems.

Bookmarks says they are independently owned, have no such problems and intend to be around for a long time.

Soooo, if you can believe that....

:)

I think I'll go for it!

I think I have 81 books on my Library Thing. TBR books, that is. And I don't think I'm adding the TBRs too scrupulously, either. I'd better stay clear of Bookmarks!!!

That's why I decided not to subscribe. It is one heck of a tempting magazine. I hate to think it might shut down like Pages, though. I could never find either of those on the stands, here, and it does seem like magazines about books don't last long.

This was too tempting to pass up! I'll enjoy it for as long as it lasts. Thanks for leading me further down the path of book addiction!
