Review: Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

I read this book for the Something About Me challenge. I've had the feeling for years that perhaps I'm the only person in the entire world that hasn't read this book! It's my friend Emily's favorite book in the world, so I took this opportunity to read it.

I really liked it. Normally, science fiction isn't my thing, but in the past few years I've been finding more and more SF titles that are great. This is one of them. Of course you have to suspend your own reality, but the characters are so great (and human) that you can really let yourself travel into the future and see the sights.

Even if you think you don't like SF, you'll like this one.

You are not the only person who hasn't read that. I'm glad you liked it, though. Gives me hope for the day when I attempt it (whenever that might be).

I read it this summer and enjoyed although I don't usually read sci-fi. I think that is why it's a good book, because when the characters are great, and a book is well written, the topic doesn't matter. It's just a good book.

I haven't read it, either, never fear. I always mean to, though. Maybe some day. I'm glad to hear your "even if you don't like sci fi" endorsement, since I don't. :)

just had to tell you that Nick is reading this right now! He came home and showed me what he had checked out at school and so then I showed him your blog. :) Anyway, I really liked this book when I read it (and I'm not a fan of SF) but I forgot what it's about so I guess I'll have to read it again.

Nope. Not the only person. But I do have it on my list. I hope to get to it next year sometime!! Isn't is sad that I'm planning books so far in the future??

I absolutely love this book! I would say, skip the sequels though. They're more heavy on the science fiction and I didn't enjoy them nearly as much.

So glad you discovered Ender! I think it's one of the best sci-fi books in existence. Unfortunately, I wasn't really thrilled with Speaker for the Dead, the next Ender book, so I gave up on the series. But, Ender's Game is awesome.
